The 5th Annual

Motorcycle Ride for Breast Cancer Research

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Nanaimo, BC

We had 109 riders/passengers registered and we raised over $7400. That brings the five year total you've helped us raise for breast cancer research to over $113,400 !

While it rained on and off again during registration at VI Honda, there was enough hot coffee and muffins to keep everyone happy while they were looking over the vendors wares that were for sale.  The prizes for pre-registration and the door prizes for donations were a big hit. Dave Hamilton of C2C photography was everywhere all at the same time it seemed, taking photos of you, your bikes, your passengers, the members of A Breast of Life Dragon Boat Team as they held up their paddles to send us off.  The rain held off on the ride to the Air Park in Courtenay where we were first greeted with bottled water handed out by Kim Jackson and George Reid of Coldwell Banker and shortly after given coffee and hotdogs donated through the Park Café and their suppliers.  The cake from Thrifty Foods was as incredible to see as it was to eat! They used the same logo as the 2008 pin and printed it on to the cake!!

We want to offer our sincerest thanks to everyone who helped pull this together.

Harbour City Motorsport and VI Honda for letting us use their site, their tents, and their staff ( Carley, Dale, Frank, Jana, Laura, Michelle, Pat, Stefan, Tara)  as well as donating the pink Hoodie sweaters, that were special door prizes. Vendors who donated gift baskets or services and or many hours of volunteering: Cherryl Hossack of Princess House, Marina Kromhout of Partylite, Janice Hoffman of Blue Wave Jewellery, Tamara Matiesen of Chasing Destiny, VI Bikers, VI Raiders, Honda Canada. Suzuki Canada, Yamaha Motor Canada, Park Café, Neptune Foods, Green’s Bakery, Chakra’s Esthetics, Canadian Western Bank, Dave Shortil of Family Integrity Corp., Dave Hamilton of C2C Photography, A Breast of Life Dragon Boat Team, Thrifty’s Foods, Coldwell Banker – Kim Jackson and George Reid, Linda Gerick, Lorana Laporte, Susan Pockiak Sadie Bishop, Malcolm Dunnett, Sophie Williamson, Zell Graham and YOU.

Of course our biggest thanks goes to all the riders and the people who sponsored them - you are what makes this event so special.
